Since Yael and ChayaLeah are repeat visitors to The Unspeakable, they did the polite thing and invited me over to their house. We talked about everything from Friday night Shabbat to Friday Night Lights. We also had some things to say about dating, mating, motherhood, non-motherhood, marriage, divorce, “power couples,” regret, Martha Stewart, photo filters, face fillers, Sex and the City, media literacy, and a whole bunch of other stuff I can’t remember right now. (I’m not sure why the title is Bring Back Bullying, but I’m sure it’s accurate.) If listening to me on two podcasts every week isn’t enough, this is for you!

I gotta go to bed but omg, that episode. Friday Night Lights!! Jason Street and Matt Saracen have a podcast about the show. So good.
Also. In regards to dogs. There is the traditional eastern European terror of dogs. And even after families emigrated to the US or Israel and became secular, there was a long time dislike of dogs. Like my grandmother hates dogs and when I was a kid and we would visit her in Israel there were virtually no dogs around. Now they are everywhere.
About kids. Everyone is different. My grandfather was born when his mom was 40. In 1906. My mom had my brother at 42. So I think genetics play a role
I am surprised that you did not push back when the suggestion was made that math should be dropped in favour of media literacy. You hosted Tom Chivers who made it pretty clear that some of that literacy required some numeracy. The statement that nobody needs math because they use calculators is false. Nobody USES math because they use calculators but that's like saying nobody needs to learn to read because they listen to audio books. Math has enormous benefits, which I wish I had. Math has even shown to be therapeutic in treating depression. It's a tool we need to have at our disposal but which we have disposed.
