I agree with Kat about friendships - I live in NC which has greatly expanded by views and I refuse to let politics divide me from good people with whom I disagree. That said, Fox News is responsible for much of what Kay criticizes in media and propagates so much misinformation. The stolen election etc. I wish she had another platform to share her more nuanced views.
I liked hearing Kat's personal stories, but I'm rather annoyed that a Fox News contributor is bemoaning how the election is not about policy.
I can list lots of policies that Biden enacted, and some of Kamala's too. It's within Kat's power to actually talk about these policies in her job.
But instead she bemoans the online weirdos who talk about marginalized voices vis a vis Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes.
Might I remind her that online weirdos are not the candidate?
Can I remind her of when a sitting PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES accused Joe Scarborough of murder? How he frequently refers to his political opponents as "scum?" How he's talked about "terminating" the Constitution?
What is Kat's opinion about the "policy" of peaceful transfer of power, or a candidate refusing to answer questions about whether that candidate will honor it?
Once again, Kat has agency. It's within her power to talk about policies AT HER JOB!
PS She doesn't even understand why Dick Cheney endorsed Kamala. It's as if Kat thinks Kamala endorsed Cheney. It has nothing to do with war. Zero. It has to do with honoring the peaceful transfer of power. Both Cheneys have been very outspoken about this, you know, "policy."
I'm glad she supports Justin Amash, but she might want to look into how fellow Fox News contributor Tulsi Gabbard handled the impeachment.
Kat mentions codifying Roe as an example of politicians not doing what they say, but this just shows her lack of knowledge of how the Senate works.
There has only been one filibuster-proof majority this century, it lasted for about six months (July 2009 to January 2010), and it included pro-life Democrat Ben Nelson from Nebraska.
Which is fine, not everyone needs to know that, but I would expect a political commentator on the number one network for political discussion to know it.
Really enjoyed this conversation. I appreciated the mention of Justin Amash, someone for whom I've a great deal of respect. He's likely my first choice as a write-in for President this November.
This reminds me of a long-standing pet peeve - the D's and R's are extremely good everywhere at making it very difficult for third party candidates to get on the ballot. And I don't know how this can get fixed, as they both have every incentive to keep making it difficult.

Yeah, their entire business model rests on outrage.

I really appreciated this introduction to Kat Tompf. She's awesome... I share many of the same views.
